JPR Live Session: Joe Troop

The folk singer, banjo player, band leader and self-described 'artivist' joined us to talk about his new album Borrowed Time, and the social issues he focuses on outside of music.

After an 18-month drought, we welcomed Joe Troop into our performance studio for an actual live in-person session. He was on his way to Mexico after doing some work with United Farm Workers in eastern Washington.

Troop's band Che' Apalache was put on lengthy hiatus as a result of the difficulty and delays processing artist visas, which gave Troop time to focus on a collection of tunes for a solo project. Borrowed Time is a sharply written album that touches on immigration, America's bail bond system, climate change, and other societal issues that Troop is passionate about.
